Why won't the sound on my computer work?

The sound on my computer won't work. Multimedia Audio or something called that won't work. I can't reinstall it because it says it can't. I've tried to go to settings and stuff. I've clicked on the thing with a sound speaker icon and it won't work. I can't click on anything. HELP ME!
